Nbs Crew - Rear Seat Leather?

Recommended Posts

Getting really hard to pass up the deals on the '08s now. I'd like to move up to a crew cab. I looked at one again the other day. Trying to hold out till this week and see if the incentive rumors hold true.

The rear "leather" seat feels almost like vinyl or at least somewhat different than front seating material. I asked the salesman and he said it was leather as well. Is it really leather or was he just telling me what I wanted to hear? I know on some of the older non-NBS trucks it was vinyl

Thanks!

Actually, a lot of the factory leather is vinyl, even in the front. Only the center seating surfaces are leather in the front. If there's any leather in the rear seats, the same holds; just the center seating surfaces. My experience has been some (not all) sales people don't really know, and yes, do say what you want to hear. I had factory leather in my '00 and my '01 Sierras and the rear seats were vinyl. I opted for cloth in my '07 NNBS because I did not like the texture in the factory leather. I have to agree with your impression, on the '07s with leather that I looked at; the rear seats did not feel the same and I too thought they were vinyl.

I installed Katzkins in my '07 because of the lint issue with the cloth. There is some vinyl in the Katzkins kit that I got, but not nearly as much as the factory leather has. Plus the leather feels much better in the Katzkins than in the factory.

I have heard that the rear seats in the ext cabs are vinyl. But in my Crewcab, the rear seats are also leather. All seating surfaces are leather. And in the front the side bolsters are also leather, not just the center section.

I am sure Katskin's are much higher quality though. Time will tell how well this factory leather holds up. So far, after 18 months, it's holding up well. I've always preferred premium cloth, but I wanted an SLT and I had no choice. The cloth seats in my 2000 were awesome and held up beautifully.

Thanks guys!

I thought I had been told or read somewhere that the NBS crews did get leather rear but honestly it just didn't feel like it so I wanted to ask. Maybe I grabbed a bolster not thinking about it or something.

I'm all amped up about these incentives. Everyone makes a big deal out of gas prices but you can buy a lot of gas with the money being saved.

I've been eyeing the new Pontiac G8 GT and they are really nice. It would be more fun I'm sure. The thing is I must have a truck so 2 vehicles are undoubtedly more expensive that one when considering insurance, maint, etc. Maybe I should just get the Sierra and be done with it :-)
