Dual Vs. Single

So I am thinking about getting a dual exhaust for my truck. However, I want to know if there is a better performance gain if I were to get a single side-exit. Please post.

I had Borla dual on a 5.0 and 4.8L and the only benefit was my neighbors knew when I was leaving or coming home. Maybe because it wasn't a true dual exhaust system, one catalytic converter and one muffler with dual outs. Now I have a 5.3L with stock exhaust and $500 and just as happy (and my neighbors like it too).

My brother bought single exhaust for his Titan and later changed his exhaust to dual... I was going to get single exhaust for the D-max but I am getting the dual...

Yeah my friend got a magnaflow single side-exit and it sounds ok. I think If there is no performance difference I will spend the extra hundred bucks for the dual....it will look better.

I have a single output exhaust, and I wouldn't change a thing.

Personally, I would never get a dual-exhaust unless it is a true dual exhaust. I hate the idea of single-in dual-out exhaust systems.

So basically you are supporting the idea that a single performs just as well as a dual? Good.

I'll be honest, I have yet to find an exhaust system, dual or single, for a modern gas engine which offers any type of performance gains that are noticeable. Most people get dual exhaust because they have the misconception that louder is better.

+/-15 HP is somewhat noticeable and well worth it wouldn't you say??

As said, dual outlet looks and sounds better and a entire single generates better scavenging on low end torque.

You will not get 15 more horsepower from exhaust alone...

Just get a magnaflow muffler for 80 bucks and save yourself some money. It will still give you a decent rumble yet it won't piss off the neighbors.
