Hmm, didn't think about that. Is there a way to just have to poll and not be able to post or am I going to have to trust the good judgement of the members? (yikes!)

Go back and edit your first post to say "No Political Discussions Please... JUST PLACE YOUR VOTE".

Yeah - I wanted to ask our Alaskan members about Palin, since I had never heard of her before. Due to the strict "no politics" b/s on this site, I've been going to other sites, to get opinions and info........ :uhoh:

WELL... It IS a truck site and they are just trying to keep the peace. It's been a rule here since the beginning. I know it's been enforced since back in 02 when I joined up.

Yeah, I'm on another TRUCK site and the owner actually gets involved in the conversations, too... Keep it in the General or Off-Topic areas and let people talk. Geeeez!

I can understand not allowing it at all. Politics, right up there with Religion are the easiest topics for people to get really bent over. It's all well and good that the conversation goes in off-topic or where ever and is out of the way, but it's too easy for people to get bent on that topic, and then carry it over to the rest of the site when they run into people they had political disagreements with.

 

Yes, people should be able to act like adults and not get all butthurt over a political conversation, but let's be real, this is the Intertubes. people don't act like adults here.

DUDE!!! Why'd you have to come at me like that!? :D

 

I guess the thing that irritates me is that it seems like you can't even ask "is this person the real deal" / "is it all just image" / "is this person a total nut"? I can understand not getting too deep into the "your politics are wrong, because chrome bug guards should just be OUTLAWED!! Anyone caught with one should be taken out behind the barn and flogged - just like those posers who drive purple trucks!"

 

But, especially when we have so many people on here from so many different places.. (some from 'her' home state) It'd be nice to ask real people's opinions, who I already know from chatting with them on here... and not just hear the b/s the talking heads on TV and radio keep repeating over and over (some of which seem like all they've done is gone to Wikipedia and looked her up on there! haha!)

 

Ok... I'll shut up now, before I get 'warned'... :uhoh:

If you click on said person's name on the site, you get a little menu and from there you can chose to send them a message that only goes to them. I'm pretty sure the rule is only for public conversations :D

I've been a member of the Corvetteforum for a while now. I used to hang out in the Off topic and then moved into the PRC (Politics, REligon, & Controversy) section. It was fun, but I entirely understand why this site doesn't have said section.

 

Oh yeah, I'm pretty sure talking about talking about Politics is frowned upon too. :D
