on my 2000 Chevy 1500 ext cab stepside LT, I still have the original brakes the fronts are about 1/2 gone and the backs about 2/3 gone, I was wondering how many other people got 100,000 or more on their brakes, I have read threads on here over the last few years about you people living back east having problems with rust and so forth. Living in California I don't have to worry about salt, but then it's 2 wd and I don't drive it in the snow. I realize people drive differently but I was just wondering how long other peoples brakes lasted?

That is awesome, good for you. I normally look at brakes to be replaced in the 60,000 km range, give or take a bit. But to get 100 000 miles (160 000 kms) is pretty good. What was your trick to get them to last that long?

I guess for one I was just lucky, but I'm not hard on brakes, but working in the mountains and foothills, it's like being on a road course most of the time, and I have a heavy foot or at least the CHP think so, but I do let it roll thru the corners and when in town I don't race up to the stop light and slam on the brakes, I hope my tranny last as long as the motor also, but this truck still looks new and it's like a Caddy pick-up with the leather and all, so if the tranny goes I'll replace it, at my age if I don't wreck it, it might just be my last truck.

When my 2003 Suburban hit 100,000 miles it was an awesome day, my 2003 Suburban had 130,000 and it was still riding on stock brakes. My trucks have been different though, my 2006 Silverado need new brake pads and rear brakes shoes at 18,000 miles. I have always had better luck with brakes on GM SUV's.
