Daddy Needs Tahoe Help

Guys,

My old man is about to pull the trigger on a 4X4 Graystone '08 Tahoe LTZ. $53,270 MSRP out the door for just over $38K.

I have a few questions I was hoping a few of you may be able to help me out with.

1. Anyone know of a good rear-only lowering kit that works with the Autoride system?

2. Anyone have a Steel Gray (16U paint code, I believe) Yukon that would lend me their VIN to identify and buy the rear gate handle cover? I am having him swap this smooth one for the one with the bow tie.

3. Is the fuse for the DRL's #32 on the SUV's like it is on the trucks?

4. Has anyone installed the OE stainless exhaust tip? Are they worth a shit?

Thanks, Fellas!

EXTRAS:

Is there anyone in the Charlotte, NC area that might be interested in the OEM polished aluminum 20's? My dad will probably head to the custom wheel shop on his way home from the lot.

We may also have some chrome mirror caps and door handles available . He's likely to have them install color-matched caps and handles before he buys it but I have asked him to keep the chrome ones when he does.

Tobias,Wheres your Dad live near Charlotte?

BTW...I can get ahold of my buddy at Ground Force and see if there kit works with the Autoride system.

And I think the rear gate handle covers come "paint to match" from GM,So he'll have get it painted.

Just checked my wife's 2007 Tahoe LT, DRL #1 is 30 and DRL #2 is 32. Just like the trucks.

The Ground Force contact would be sweet! As for the cover, I figured that might be the case but I'll need a VIN anyway, unless someone knows a parts guy!

He's going to have the front bow tie color-matched anyway so shooting the cover too shouldn't be any big deal. Oh, are the rear fascia close outs paint-to-match too? Part number, maybe????

You kick ass, BTW.

Do you have friends or family in that area or something?

I only pulled 32 on my truck and the DRL's were disabled just fine. I never pulled 30. For some reason I thought It was 32 and 34. Hmmm.

Yeah, well, it should say DRL right on it so it's not a big deal, just trying to give my dad as much help as possible. He's pretty damn handy and knows his way around a vehicle but I always like knowing just a little more than he does!

Nope,Don't know a parts guy,at least not a good one..Ha-Ha!!!!!

The part number on the Graystone rear fascia cover is 19155353

On the handle cover...15838850 with backup camera,15915678 without backup camera (I can't remember if the VIN of the Tahoe he was looking at had the camera or not)

I have a buddy that lives in Newton (Next to Hickory) I'm down there half a dozen times a year going to the NASCAR races and stuff,Plus I use to live down there also.

I also go down sometimes just to "get away" for the weekend,we go to the big mall in Concord (Concord Mills) to go to Bass Pro Shops,or we end up at the track for the Auto Fair if thats going on that weekend,I was suppose to be down there this weekend for the NHRA drag races but I decided not to go.

Off Topic - Go figure right

About a yr and a half ago they put in a bass pro in Portage up norht have you been there? Very nice place. They also just recently put a cabelas in my old hometown (Hammond) and thats real nice too. Probably a little closer drive for you than NC if your taking a bass pro shopping trip.

Also are you sure they are the polished wheels? I have these on my LT, thought the LTZ have the chrome wheels.

Here are mine

    • New to diesel trucks. I happened to find my oil cooler leaking oil externally with only 4,000 miles on the truck. I didn’t realize this was an issue until I started researching it. Dealer is going to replace it under warranty but I’m wondering if there’s anything GM is working on to fix this issue. I’ve heard the oil filter used is the same as they use on their V6 motors and that’s what is causing the problems. Should I switch to a bigger filter or keep using the OEM recommended?
    • So, GMCustomerService:  Judging by the Update History pictured above, is this truck missing any updates that it actually needs. If it's just for the infotainment system, the radio is working fine and no trouble with SeriusXM. and Android Auto is working fine wirelessly with my phone. Some months ago, an update notice was sent to my truck. I approved the update and it finished saying that the update was successful, but it seems that whatever that update was, it didn't actually get installed - at least not if I'm to go by the Update History shown above.   So, again, are there any updates that this truck really should have? I've checked with my dealer but they're reluctant or commit to anything and if I want them to check, they require a $200.00 fee just to check it out and then I'd have to pay for the actual update(s).    Ignorance is bliss, and if none of the updates goes to fixing any mechanical discrepancies, I'll just leave things as is.
    • Hey everyone, I recently had an issue with my 07 2500HD GMT900. My DRL’s stay on at all times. Right front turn and right mirror turn signal indicator stay on solid at all times. By “at all times” I mean the only way to make them go off is disconnecting the battery. I tore the headlight assemblies out, tried disconnecting the harnesses to eliminate bad wiring at the harness, I unplugged the headlight switch, no change and the mirror turn signal still stayed on. My first thoughts were : Bad bulb and/or socket somewhere, under hood fuse panel bad, bcm bad, tail light or trailer wiring problem, or some random short to power in the harness.  Possibly a bad ground but unlikely. I had a big clue in the fuse panel, it had a burnt smell. I started pulling every fuse that had to do with DRL or right turn/park lamp. Nothing made the right directional turn off but pulling the DRL2 fuse made the DRL’s go out.  After studying wiring diagrams, I found that both problems had that fuse panel in common, the bcm also controls both problems but knowing the fuse panel had a burnt smell I removed and disassembled the fuse panel and found a little corrosion on the printed circuit board.  I ordered a new fuse panel from Amazon for like $260. When it arrived I installed it, and put everything back together, the problem was fixed. I figured the fuse panel needed to be replaced anyway so that was a logical place to start. Hopefully this story helps someone in the future. Regretfully I didn’t scan for codes before I did everything.
    • That stinks. I’m sitting on the side of the road right now with the same issue. Never had an issue before taking it in for the ground strap recall. Now I’m outside of warranty and they’ll probably want $200 just to diagnose what they already “fixed”.
