Theft Detr. System Not Working, Any Suggestions?

Just purchased a new 08 Silverado. The tag in the window said it had a theft detr. system, and I believe its statndard in the trucks. I have keyless entry. Well When I set the alarm the red security light never comes on. I can even open, the door with from the inside and the alarm does not go off.

 

Any ideas what is wrong?

Theft deterrent system protects the vehicle from starting, but not the contents of the vehicle. There is another system for vehicle content that you may not have. I would check with your dealerships service department. Its under warranty so just take it in.

Theft deterrent system uses a chip in the key and that authorizes the PCM & BCM to let you start the vehicle you would have to use a key that has no chip and proper cut to do a test. Go see you friendly dealership service department.
