well here I am new member from VA... been lurking for awhile just finally became a member. I just recently got my 2004 GMC Sierra Z71 marine blue metallic back in April '08 and it had just a tick under 43k miles. The orig. owner traded it in on a new malibu they moved to the city and he lost his job then they also had a baby on the way so he basically had to downsize, he is a truck driver so he used this primarily as a weekend vehicle. I really love this truck and it has a lot more room than my ford which does have a std. cab so not really any comparison between the two, other things that I like is that it gets a little bit better mileage 16-17 mostly whereas with the ford 300 I avg 14-15mpg and also the gmc is the cheapest one I have on insurance so that helps a lot, the ford was in the middle till I turned the tags in and dropped coverage then my 97 honda civic is the highest go figure... at least I save so much in gas that it makes up for it.

But anyways here is a pic of my truck and I will snap a pic of the Z71 head rests that from what I can tell is extremely rare to find, from what the prev. owner told me he wanted the head rests with the logo and that the dealership got it custom done for him.

thanks a lot guys, from what I can tell gm only used the marine blue metallic on 2003-2004 models, that color is very rare around here I guess mainly that it was only used for 2 yrs. Actually over at the chevy dealer where I bought mine they now actually have a 2003 gmc 1500hd crew 4wd same color and there is also a lady I know whos mom has one just like mine but I belive that it's an 03, mine has the sle2 package and it's got pretty much everything but leather which I didn't want anyways. One of my best friends has an 05 gmc that he bought new but his has the aluminum block and the color is silver birch and is not as loaded as mine.

but anyways thanks again and I will be posting more pics.

edit:

Thanks Roger,

Right now as for mods I do plan on getting some side step bars, I'm sure a lot of people have the same problem that the seat is a little too tall and when you get in I feel like you put a little too much pressure on the edge of the seat, my friend felt the same way after he bought his and put black westin's on it but I'll prob. put shiny ones on mine like s.s. or chromed s.s., haven't decided. Other plans are exhaust with magnaflow, sorry I'm not much of a flowmaster guy and I guess hearing too many 5.0's with them sounds like they're running out of a trashcan, sorry that's just how I feel. I got the gm extended warranty when I got it so I don't really wanna do anything too serious to void that but always open for suggestions. I had a line-x sprayed in my ford and loved it, would like to do that again but for now I might just put a rubber mat in there since there is nothing back there at least to protect it.

Hi there and welcome to GM Trucks! :) That is a nice truck you've got there. That is a really nice blue.

Welcome. Nice rig! Cool to see trucks that aren't in the same old colors. (Just watch the lemmings jump on me now for my "purple" truck ;))

Definitely post up pics of those head rests. I actually remember someone posting a few months ago asking for info on Z71 headrests. Noone could find a single picture of one. Well...except for some Z71 stickers stuck on a Malibu headrest! :)

yeah I will take some pics of the head rests right now soon as I find out where I hid my camera lol. I saw some pics of one before but the Z71 was in black and I belive it was a tahoe and the seats were tan leather which mine are red just like on the sides of the bed, the prev. owner said that they were stitched in but I need to take a closer look because it looked like to me that it was just patches but I could be mistaken. I never seen them anywhere else before and didn't know if it was done factory or custom and my friend said that through the dealership you can get a lot of custom stuff done through their parts dept. When I met the owner I should've asked him why he decided to have it done, it was really weird meeting him but cool though I was sitting in the parking lot at lowes and out the corner of my eye these two people were walking up to me and he knew that it was his truck when he saw it there, now that shows you how rare this color is around here, on a side note I need to send them a thank you letter for taking such good care of the truck.

on a side note I notice that chevrolet used the arrival blue so would you think that the marine blue metallic is only on the gmc's? and if so maybe that is another reason why it's so rare. I really do love this truck and now it has 47k miles from after having it 5 months.

Welcome aboard. You have yourself a good looking truck. :)

Thanks again everyone for the kind words. I do have a few more pics and also took some of the head rests. I'll have to take some more of the truck after I get it cleaned up, the ones with the red 30 day tags were taken right after I got it and anything taken that has my fire tags will be from now on but the truck is still exactly the same i haven't done anything to it yet.

It might just me but imo I like the gmc front end a little bit better than thechevy's and the nbs gmc one is just too sweet I like them even better.

Obviously the rear of it.

Closer up on the Z71 emblem on the tailgate.

And finally... the Z71 head rests.

An inside shot, you can see the steering wheel controls and console with the bose stereo.

from looking at the Z71 head rests they are definately patches glued on there. I cannot see any stitching anywhere that holds them on.

Edit:

I forgot to add that only the front buckets have the Z71 logos and that the the rear ones do not.

Very nice, but now it's time to debadge that tailgate! And lose the Z71 stickers on the bed too. That truck will look super clean that way.
