Brakes, U-joint, Etc..?

ok guys i have a 2007 silverado half ton Z71, i started hearing this noise from the front end today... it sounds like its coming from the drivers side front wheel area, it makes the noise while im driving with and without the brakes pressed. It sounds like brakes pads are worn down and its metal to the rotars, and it does it at all speeds, it doesnt make any noise if im not in motion. I have no idea what it could be, all i know is it does make the noise at any speed with or without the brakes applied... please help soon cause i dont like driving around on a screwed up truck and as soon as i get advice then ill head up to the local parts store around the corner and get the part needed. did you just give that lift put on, the is something about the brake shield rubbing on our style trucks....you might want to adjust them a little bit. Thats what happened to mine

Ight I checked out my u-joints, they are great... It honestly sound like it's coming from my drivers side front tire area... Is there anything yall know of that could possible cause that? It's a sharp sqeaking noise that honestly sounds as if something was Inbetween my rotor and my break pad or as if my pads were metal and was rubbing against my rotor... But does it none stop while in motion... And only stoping when the vehicle stops.. It sound as if the brakes sometimes makes it go away for a split second and sometimes the brakes make it worse

Have you checked the brakes?

well I did half way but stopped cause it doesn't make sense to me if the noise is happening when I don't even have the brakes applied....

There is a metal tab that hangs off of the pad, this is the wear indicator. The indicator will contact the rotor and make a screech or squeek noise until you apply the brakes, then the pressure makes the noise go away. Check your brakes.

Yea, that little metal tab will scrape on your rotors and make a high pitched scrape when you're not applying the brakes. It it also does this when you're applying the brakes then it's REALLY bad. When was the last time you changed your pads?
