Ok any tips?  What to use and how to do it

 

I am coming up on 27K and was told to do it by 30K

I like the Amsoil Foam.

Very easy.

I think its held on with 3 screws.

 

2 electical plugs, and the Throttle Bottle cooling hoses (removed mine)

 

accelerator line.

 

Then it just slides on out, i used wd-40 and a toothbrush

 

While your at it, do the EGR and TB coolant mod

Change your PCV valve to GM part# 12572717 if it hasnt been done yet.  That way your TB wont get so nasty as quick and use your oil.  The stock PCV suks azz and pulls oil through.  The newer PCV only has a very small hole in it.  I have a 99 and my engine used a bit of oil until I put the new PCV in.  The inside of my intake was grody!  I talked with a few people here in town that have the same year trucks and recommended GM intake cleaner, thats what I used.
