Lost My Best Friend Yesterday

My german shepherd dog, Dakota, barely 6 years-old died yesterday at the vet as a result of being euthanized. This was necessary after the doctor confirmed that a tumor in her abdomen was indeed cancerous and was partially ruptured.

My wife and I had less than 24 hours' notice, as a trip to the vet the day before led to the finding of the tumor. One of the hardest things I've ever done is dropping my dog off at the vet yesterday so that they could X-ray and open her stomach up. I just had a bad feeling that it was going to be the last time I saw her. Turns out it was.

Today after work I'll stop by to pick up her leash and collar. I'm just finding out now that I never knew you could love a dog this much and that you just can't prepare for something like this.

I know there are quite a few pet lovers on this forum. So it makes me feel better to share. Thanks.

:nono: I'm sorry for your loss. A pet, especially a dog, can be like one of your own kid's. My dog was also diagnosed with a tumor that took his eye sight away. Keep your head up, maybe you can get another dog. I know it won't be the same, but it'll need love and attention to. :dunno:

:dunno: Sorry for your loss. I had to put down a dog a few years ago, a real german rottie that I rescued. Best damn dog I ever had. I have raised show dogs most of my life. It hurt like a sucker punch in the gut for weeks. After a year or so I got a new dog a german shepard that is from East germany. There is nothing like time to heal the wounds and pain that you and your family feel.

My deepest sympathies to you and your wife. It is never easy losing a pet, one never realizes just how strong of a bond can be created until they are suddenly taken away from us. As with all things, time will help you and your wife to get through this.

I'm sorry for your loss. My parents called me last year to tell me they had to put my childhood dog down. I was sitting at my desk at work and not at all expecting a call like that. I feel for you and your wife.

My deepest sympathies. I've lost several dogs on my life and not one hurts less than the other. I always try to remember that they were going to live out their lives somewhere with someone and to just be happy that I had the opportunity to try and show them the same unconditional love they always had for me.

:dunno: Sorry to hear about that. My little sister just lost her German Shepard to abdominal tumors a year or two ago. Hers was only 7 or 8.

I still remember the day when I lost my childhood dog. It was Easter Sunday, 1999. I had him since I was 5 years old, in 1988. It's tough.

At the risk of sounding cliche, she is in a better place now. She didn't suffer for months in pain and agony. :nono:

Sorry about your loss. I lost my first dog when I was younger. He was attacked by a pack of stray dogs in our back yard and they ripped out his whole throat area real bad. My mom picked me up from school early to take me home :dunno: and my dog was laying in his house and when he saw me he tried to walk out and just collapsed I put him in the back of a pick up and told my mom to drive to the vet. I could see that he was just waiting for me to get home so he could die. We got him to the vet and they performed surgery but he never made it died the next day...I'm choked up just writing about it. :nono:

Very sorry to hear that :dunno: I too am a huge dog lover and I know your's will be missed dearly!

Sorry to hear about your loss man. Dogs become very important members of the family. 6 years is way too short.

I am so sincerely sorry that the decision had to be made to help Dakota start her next journey. My sympathies and condolences to you and your wife. :dunno:

I too can understand what it's like. Each and every loss is never forgotten and always hurts.

Hey, thanks for providing Dakota a good home for 6 years. So many dogs out there are neglected and treated like shit. Whenever I volunteer some time at the local humane society shelter, there are a bunch of dogs that I would love to take home if I had room. They have so much to offer, companionship and a loyalty that $$ can't buy. My sympathy to you both.

    • Did you even read this article?   Even the title of the article says "U.S.-Iran Deal Doesn’t Mean a Swift Return of Oil and Gas Flows"   Remember, crude oil prices are based on FUTURE purchases by the oil companies.  Gas prices are based on FUTURE purchases by the station.  This article stated that many of the oil producing nations have to restart their processes to get the oil produced.  Then the oil has to be shipped to wherever.  And it doesn't get there overnight.  And most of that oil is not coming here. Check out this site:  https://afdc.energy.gov/data/10621   A graph will pop up to show where the US imports their oil from.  Notice that there isn't a lot of import from OPEC and Iraq.  Most of the US import comes from Canada. The US oil produces are selling their oil on the open market, which is why the US fuel costs went up.  So you're correct, the US oil companies are going to slow walk the price downward.

    • I just purchased a 2004 Tahoe with 148,******. I used to have a 2006 Suburban that had the push button Auto 4X, 2Hi, 4Hi and 4Lo. When checking out this truck I noticed it had push button but didn’t focus on it. After the purchase when driving home, this is when I noticed it was different and after a little research found out it has the AWD stabilitrak system. I don’t live in an area that requires AWD. I bought the truck to start a new adventure in life with off roading, now that the kids are all grown up. I purchased the truck knowing it didn’t have the G80 rearend but plan on re-gearing to drive on 33s or 35s and upgrade with a rear locker and still be able to tow when needed. Blah Blah Blah Anyway I know am thinking about converting the stabilitrak  to Z71. I know I will have to replace the transfer case. So now the information gathering stage is happening to see if it is worth it. Is the front AWD stabilitrak differential different when compared to a non-AWD front diff? Will I need a completely different front differential or can it be converted? What else should I be considering? I did see something in a video for GMT900 platform with removing the ABS fuse that disables the stabilitrak and turns the truck into a 2 wheel drive. Would that work in the GMT800 platform?
