Catalytic Converter 3003 Z-71

I have a 2003 Z-71 Suburban with the 5.something litre V8 with 95,000 miles. My yellow check engine light came on and my mechanic is telling me that I need a new catalyic converter. Parts and labor is going to run me $900... I have to get the truck inspected every other year in my state (NJ) and it won't pass without a new c.c.... Can I put a used one on it? Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks, DT...

You can use any catalytic converter that functions properly and fits this vehicle. A good used unit from a wrecking yard would be a good option. Also explore aftermarket source - new aftermarket converters are often priced very reasonably.

 

BTW, your title says a "3003 Z-71". Back to the future?
