Water Spots On Glass

Recommended Posts

Okay so I noticed I have this issue with dried water spots on my windows and can't get them off for the love of God. I tried mineral spirits/ acetone, but nothing happens. I've neglected applying rain X on the windows monthly, so in all likely hood it allowed the water to dry up. I always use the Mr Clean auto wash thing to wash my truck which filters out contaminates in water, and also have well water. It's the acid rain I blame for this, or the sun directly drieing up the water on the glass.

I haven't tried a razor blade with window cleaner, but don't think it will work. I once knew this detailer who had this special cleaner that if you apply it to a surface, it would easily remove tar, and other contaminates but can't remember what it was called.

Any suggestions what is a good product to clean these dried water spots off the glass?

I've used a 50/50 solution of water and vinegar. Dip a newspaper in it, and use some elbow grease...Got it off.

And lemme tell you how much work this is on Fred's rear windows. HOLY CRAP.

Try some Coca-Cola. That stuff cleans up a lot of junk.

Use Diet Coke instead...No sugar (that's what causes it to stain things).

Dude, try some soap and water or some Handi-Wipes or something. Coke is just a weird thing to do that with. :D

EDIT: I had to remove the comment where I called WeeMax an a$$hole.:crackup:

As for the water spots, I've yet to run into one that some good soap and water wouldn't remove. Or even some good glass cleaner such as Stoners and a glass cleaning towel. Then when you're washing next time, get under some shade, and let the water sheet off of the vehicle. That alone helps reduce water spots a lot. Then dry quickly!

I'd also avoid the Rain-X stuff on the windshield. That stuff is very particular about how/when you apply it. My friend used to use it all the time and ended up with this thick film on the windows that was a pain to get off. Stoners did the trick though.

I'll think I'll try some cocaine on the glass, I have plenty of Keys to spare...
