Trany is dead

Hey guys, I got some bad news today, My tranie is dead, the dealer said the piston shot through the core. All in all a new gm tranie with the labor will be around 2500 to 3000 bucks, I Dont got that to spend, what do you guys think i should do.

Sorry to hear about your problems...

I would think a good tranny shop would rebuild it for about 1/2 that price.

or until you can get it rebuilt, there's always the boneyard.

I would seek the price on the same tranny from one of the discount online GM dealers. Any certified tranny shop could put it in without voiding any warranty, probably for $500-$1500 less.

humm..may be an idea to investigat a L480 swap. not sure of what all would be involved, but it is just another option to kick around. Not sure of your desires and all, but trannys are not all that bad to swap yourself.

Thanks for the input guys, but i got good news. I was very pissed when i find this out, because ive been having a lot of problems with this truck. So I made a call to the deal i got it from, They offerd to pay for half. So now i got a new gm tranie.
