Dented Bed Rails

Recommended Posts

I tried the search but it keeps coming up with a error. I thought I remember a while a go some were complain about the top of the bed rails having small dents all along the length of the bed. Well I have them as well as everyone I know that has a '07 - '08 truck.

Is there any information out there on this? It's not a huge deal but the price of these trucks is not cheap but it sure seems like there starting to make them that way.

End of rant. :D

If I remember correctly, I have seen wavy bed rails on many new trucks in the past - especially on Dodge trucks. I do not know if these waves are really conspicuous on your truck, but I would not worry about them. As mentioned, if they bother you, cover them with bed rail protectors.

I would be concerned about weak sheet metal a lot more than waviness.

I assume the former cause the latter.

That is why I put my old man rails on. They came in handy when I did the parade and everyone was leaning over the side to grab stuff to hand out. Kept the scratches away anyway. :D it also keeps people from sitting on them.

I had one in mine I noticed it when I was picking it up. I got told it was normal and I showed them the truck that was sitting next to mine that did not have any dings in bed rail. So it is not normal my buddy just picked his truck up the same day his did not have any either. So i told them the only way I was taking the truck was they can fix it or put the black plastic bed rail caps on it. They put the bed rail caps on it.

Mine has the dents in the bed rails on both sides. Just went with the over the rail spray in bedliner to cover them up.

This was an issue on my 01 Silverado as well so it isn't a new problem. The slightest thing dented the top of the rails. My 05 was a crew cab so it came with factory bed caps. Bed caps or rails seem to be the answer.

...or in my case: A really cool zooty matching fancy red shell! :D

My truck too came with factory bed rail protectors, so I never had a chance to see if there were any "dents" in the rails. I suspect that the 800 series had somewhat stiffer metal on the bed rails?

At least it would not dent if you let your cat walk on it. :D
