Bright Lights

I was curious if anyone else has this problem with the GMT900. Every single time I drive at night, I always have people flashing their lights and givin me the bird because they think my brights are on when they're not!! I haven't adjusted them at all. It's just like it came from the factory.

I was wondering if I should have them adjusted or if this is normal for everyone else?

I've never had a flasher on my 08. Park in front of your garage door and check the beam pattern. I've got the single headlamp in the GMC model.

Have you done an HID conversion? Maybe swapped the bulbs out for "Ultras" or something..?

The only time that I've been flashed in my truck was after the HID conversion and I hit a dip at one end of the street and a car was about halfway between me and the other end of the street. So, when I went through the dip, the front end of my truck came up and "flashed" them with the brightness of the HID's. They flipped their lights to bright and back to dim... I returned in kind... That was it.

Have you done any suspension work on your truck? Maybe "leveled" it? That would effect how your lights shine, especially if you raised the front of the truck..

The other evening, I was sitting behind a car full of teenagers (there were at least 6 in there, 4 in the back seat). They were in an old POS car, and it was squatting. Evidently they thought my lights were too bright, so, being dumbass teenagers, they start flipping me off. I didn't get pissed, but I did let them know my brights weren't on....by putting them on!!! When I did that, it looked like a SWAT team helicopter shined a spotlight into their car. The kid that was looking back and flipping me off when I flipped the brights on was so blinded, he looked like he just looked at the sun. It was hilarious. :D

I had the exact same thing happen to me!

No, I haven't changed the bulbs, modified the suspension or anything. It's exactly how it came from the factory. I'm gonna be leveling it soon though.

I look at it as this: You're in a truck. Trucks sit higher than cars. Most cars think your lights are too bright even though they're set in a similar manner to theirs. It's normal and cars should deal with it.

That said, I was disappointed with how my old '95's lights were set up when I got it (it was like they were aimed at the ground), so I had to do some tweaking. I get brighted once in a while now, but a quick flash of mine and people understand that mine aren't on.

Best story - had a guy cut me off one night headed home, then jab on the brakes and keep going for some unknown reason. After he'd done this a few times, we got caught at a red light. Making a guess that he thought my brights were on, I rolled up behind him until I was lighting up his whole interior, then flipped on my fogs AND my brights, then back off. He sped away rather quickly and I never saw him again.

I would take it back to the dealer and let them know, they may have not been adjusted right from the factory.

I've had similar happen to me on occasion and mine are bone stock and properly aligned. The culprit is usually the height of the other car. Being low ass to the ground the angle of the lights hitting the other car makes them appear to be too bright or misaligned. Or when cresting a hill, or if the other driver has light sensitive eyes.

Take it to the dealer to adjust the headlights?

I don't have that kind of time on my hands....just open the damn hood and adjust them.

With the Lightforce lights on my bull nose bar, anyone within 100 yards KNOWS when those are on. Photo in my avitar was during daylight.

Whenever that happens to me and someone is being a jerk about it, even though my brights aren't on and my headlights are well aligned, I get behind them at the stop light or sign and it's just perfect usually how my headlight goes directly into their driver side mirror. :D

I have the same thing happening to me. Ithought it was because I added the 2" rough Country kit but I quess not. I have a 2008 Siver ado 4x4 crewcab and a 2008 4x4 Tahoe both set up the same, 2" lift and kit to keep the fogs on all the time the lights are on. I am not going to worry about it much for I live ina small country city. The extra light helps tremendously at night with no street lights. They need to get abiggier vehicle.
