04 Silverado Airbag Removal

I decided against the aftermarket nav/dvd set up. I'll put away and buy a factory take out one day. I did however buy the new switch for the fuel and trip calculator button on the steering wheel since it does not light up anymore.

 

How do you remove the airbag? I read where there is two holes to place a screwdriver in but I dont see them on the back of the wheel. I do see two holes on each side of the back part of the wheel. Is that where you place the screwdriver? Will it just pop off or do I have to pull it off? I know to disconnect the battery and let it sit for 20 minutes before performing this task. I already messed up and pulled the switch out of the wheel and while doing that I pulled the four wires to the switch out of the harness so I have to fix that. There is not enough slack in that wire.

Got it and the switch. The holes were on the rear side of the wheel on both side. I used my small screwdriver to pop it. Those switches on the wheel for the audio and computer controls are a pain. Their is not enough slack to get the switch out to unplug it. I ended up pulling the wires out of the harness head on the back of the switch. I had to splice on some wire to get enough to push the head of the plug into the hole and plug in the switch and re-install in the wheel. Not any fun.
