What Happened?!?!

I got a whole setup on my keyring for my silverado. I got the key on one part and the keyless entry thing on another with a quick detach keychain in between them. The reason is if i go to a gas station or something on a cold day, I can leave the truck running, but yet take the keyless and lock it. I thought it was slicker then sh*t until tonight when I tried it. I left it running and it locked fine but when I went to unlock it it wouldn't work. I stole a good battery and tried that but still nothing. In the long run I ended up just ripping the door handle off and now I have to open the door with them metal rods. :jester: What the h*ll went wrong???

Keyless entry systems aren't meant to be used while the car is running?

No, I did that before I had remote start. But my key fob did just quit working at some point. Had to get a new one. One of the battery connectors broke off.

carneyman,

What's up with your current avatar of a kid lighting his crotch on fire and having his friends stomp his nuts until the fire is out? :jester:

The Toyota in my sig picture loves to do that with both fobs. The battery either dies or it gets loose from the connector, sets the alarm off, and forces me to put the key in the ignition and fiddle around with it for a while to disable the horn.

Great entertainment for those watching. Half the people around think I am trying to steal it :jester:

I thought it was funny!! Plus, stupid people get what they deserve. In that case, stupid people don't get to procreate! :jester:

Well, I'm not gonna lie, I have the remote start but it seems stupid as hell to pull in, shut off the truck, get out, lock it , then hit the remote start. It worked fine for the longest time. I think I rigged the keyring deal up last March or so.

see, with mine, I don't have to shut off my truck. I just hit the button, take out the key, and as long as I don't hit the brake before the key is back in and turned, it stays on.

Sorry to hear that happened to you. But, isn't there some sort of Federal law about shutting off the vehicle before fueling...? :jester:

I know around here, you can get ticketed for leaving a vehicle running or leaving your keys in the vehicle while you're not in it. Something about "enticing to steal" or some b/s like that.

ha! Yesterday, I was listening to the police scanner, listening to this one cop get exasperated, because he kept busting people rolling through stop signs. After about the 6th ticket, you could hear the frustration in his voice... But, he kept setting up to catch more. So.... :jester:

Well, mine is an aftermarket version, so yours might not do that. Haven't tried it on the impala yet.
