Egr Valve

hi folks,

i have a 04 1500 with a 4.8. ive installed hooker supercomp lt's and realized my egr valve is non existant. but on my aftermarket headers, there is a hole for the egr valve. ive been using a thin sheet metal that i have cut out to seal it with 2 bolts and now it sounds like i have a leak from there. is there an aftermarket part for the exact same fitting? ive searched and searched, couldnt find it anywhere. do i have to get it custom made ? thanks

Just use a thicker peice of steel. A local metal shop may give such a small scrap peice away for free. Also use a high temp gasket RTV to seal it up nice or weld it in.

The header manufacturer should offer a block off plate. If not, a 3/16 piece of aluminum (or steel) works well with some high heat gasket material behind it. Anything thinner will likely warp and leak. I'd go 1/4 inch if it's available. The plate should be oversized compared to the flange for rigidity. You can make it duplicate the flange or just cut a rectangle and drill the bolt holes and go. I guess that depends on whether it is readily visible and how "trick" you want to get.

I assume you mean the tube and flange like the one on these headers?
