Who Has Owned A 7.4l 454 Chevy

Just wanted to know what were your overall experiences with this engine/tranny are.. im debating on keeping the truck for a desert toy or selling it.

still rocking and rollin! no mechanical issues, just typical injector/ regulator probs, still have original pump though! OH but my truck only has 102 000kilometers though! may be a different story when i finally get this supercharger on.... (:

I currently have three 454s.One in my'95 Burb,one in my '77 GMC p/u 7 one in an old Pace Arrow RV.All are still running great & all have well over 100,000 miles.The one thing that annoys me are the rear mains(on the older 2)....they leak,well the drip I guess is a better term.My son recently totaled my '77(I wanted to kill him),but the running gear is still intact.I intend to pull the running gear and put it in a '66 3/4 ton 4x4 as soon as I can find one....I love those engines.

I recently picked up a 94 which had 35K on it. Other than getting it tweaked to run better it seems to be a great engine. The 454 is a tested and true platform. In truth almost every Chevy V8 is a safe bet.

keep your moter i have been running the same 1973 454 in three different trucks plus the 1973 caprice that it came out of one tuff moter it is now throutle body injected

Got one in mine, 87,000 miles, runs good.

One of my buddies had one in his '99 3500 SRW back in high school. That truck was a beast and the power was amazing
