Transmission "flare"?

I got the transmission service done at a dealer service department earlier this year (same time as the Castech rebuild...which is another total problem in itself). This problem did not occur until they performed the service. Since then, that particular dealership has gone out of business.

When the gear indicator is in D, the transmission seems to shift fine through all the gears, whether or not in Tow/Haul mode.

When the gear indicator is in 3, there is a distinct "flare" shift between 2 and 3, whether or not in Tow/Haul mode. It is more evident at higher rpm's (2500+).

The flare feels almost like the powerband in a 2-stroke dirtbike, or the third 2-barrel opening up in a "sixpack". Right before the main shift from 2 to 3, the engine revs a couple of hundred extra rpm's, and somewhat jerks the truck before engaging third gear. No odd noises (Clunks, grinds, etc) have been heard...yet, I'm afraid.

I took it to another GM service department, and they performed a rebuild consisting of (straight from the receipt):

"3-4 clutches burned due to teflon seal cut on input shaft allowing pressure to bleed off. Other fiber components are discolored and worn. Touque converter ok nec. To replace 3-4 clutch plates and steels. Replaced all other fiber components and seals and gaskets, drained and reused torque converter, cleaned all gear sets and parts, flushed cooler lines and reinstalled transmisison. added fluid and road test. flush code 3bdef7"

After the rebuild, the problem still exists...

Anybody have any ideas???

Any help is appreciated.

This trans problem could be at the root of your gas mileage problem in the other thread.
