Are you talking about the one for a brake controller, or a 7 pin type where the trailer plugs into the truck at the back end?

I’m talking about the wiring harness that connects my truck to the trailers break lights. I’m not sure what’s it’s called but I need one. Are they universal?

If your truck has a trailering package, there will be a 7-pin connector just to the left of the license plate. The trailer will have a wiring harness that has some sort of end on it. Typically light utility trailers will have a flat 4-pin connector that operates the brake lights and tail lights. Large heavy-duty trailers will usually have a 7-pin connector that just plugs into the truck connection.

You can get an adapter that allows the use of the falt 4-pin trailer light connector to work with the truck's 7-pin connector. Any of the chain parts stores will have them for around $7.00. Also trailer sales companies have them.

I would suggerst that you check with a trailer sales shop to show what is necessary for connecting the trailer lights to your truck.
