Code Question On 2.4liter Grand Am

Hey guys, my dad called me and wanted me to research this problem for him

 

heres the problem on a 2001 Grand Am 2.4L 4 cyl

 

It had a code P0171 - system to lean - bank 1

 

he cleared the code and replace the fuel filter. the car starts and idles fine. once you accelerate the car falls on its face. if you give it to much accelerator it wants to die. It will hardly go over 30mph. if you let off the accelerator it runs rough for a little bit but then will start to idle fine.

 

any ideas. He doesn't want to keep changing parts if he doesn't have to.

+1 ....60PSI is good. I would change the fuel filter one more time. Your dad may have lots of crud still left in the fuel line.
