08 Price And A Color Question

Looking to get a good deal on an 08 silverado simliar to the one noted below. What do you think I should get the price down to. I think the redtag prices are a joke. They were offering better deals a month ago, now they have overstock of 08s and are about to go bankrupt so they should be willing to deal. Also I have an 08 Ford Escape XLT 2wd, I4, with all power options, sunroof, and satelite radio with 6000 miles that we want to get rid of so will probably trade it in. Anyone know what I should try to get as far as trade in value? Finally a local dealer has a 08 sierra they really want to get rid of but it is the dark crimson metalic color. I haven't had the chance to look at it close in person but pics online make it look purple. Thoughts on this color from people who have seen it?

hey, id for sure say less than 27,000. i bought mine in 07 lt2 CC. retail was like 32,500 or so and with the GM employee discount through my old work got me it for 27 OTD..well not really after tax and warranty i got it for 30,000.

I just saw an almost identically equipped new '08 4X4 extended cab Z71 GMC Sierra, white in color on eBay with buy-it-now price of about $ 22,800. That is a good deal and you should get this one at about the same price.

 

$ 27k is not a good deal. You should be able to get a new '08 4X4 extended cab HD 2500, 6.0 gas engine, LT2 package Silverado or Sierra for that. At least those are the deals I see.

 

A simple rule of thumb on new 4X4 '08s right now is about $ 10k off the sticker.

Three weeks ago I bought a Silverado equipped pretty much the same (list price just over $32k). I offered them $20k. They whined and complained plenty, but they accepted the deal. It helped me that the Dodge dealer next door was offering $16k off similar-priced Ram 1500's and the Ford dealer down the road was taking $14k off of their 150's. They'll offer you next to nothing on your Escape, though; if you have a Carmax anywhere nearby, take it to them and get an offer. Almost certainly they'll offer you more than the Chevy dealer.

Good advice on Carmax, they seem to offer at least KBB trade-in prices for excellent condition vehicles.

 

As far as the color goes, there as the ruby red metallic and the much darker, almost purple looking dark cherry red metallic. Maybe the latter one is the color you describe. I personally like the ruby red better, but I could live with the dark cherry metallic.

I think Dark Crimson metallic is the sierra equivalent to dark cherry on a sliverado

Look back a few days...there was a guy on here who found a 2008 Silverado LT1 4x4 Ext Cab with a MSRP in the $33k range...he offered $20k and the Dealer accepted the offer...

 

EDIT...hang on a second...this build, is equipped with Z71 offroad, but NO G80 locking diff???

 

Somethings fishy here.....

 

Double-Damn Edit...just looked again, and the truck also is "equipped" with power-pack options, and they list off limited slip, but...wait...they don't list G80 as a factory option??? Where is this build coming from???

This was an email from a dealer telling me what he had available compared to what I was looking for. I am pretty sure is has the lockin diff.

 

As far as the 20k price I am assuming that was 20k after all the rebates? How many rebates did he qualify for?

That truck is identical to mine. I paid $26,800 in February for mine. I wish I could have gotten the deals you guys are getting, but I thought it was pretty good at the time I bought it.

 

I'd see if you can't get it a little lower.

Just got my Sierra last month. 34.1K Sticker. Got the truck for 25K plus i had 1.5K in Gm card money so it was actually 23.5K +TTL. You should be able to get around 10k off the sticker. That is including all rebates.

PM Karl (geektoad) and ask him how he gets along with the color. We give him a hard time about his "purple" truck, but it just depends on how it looks in certain "lighting" conditions... My neighbor up the street has the Silverado counterpart and it's pretty cool if you like dark colors...
