Major Help Needed Stuck With Truck

my 1988 c 1500 4.3 ran fine up till this afternoon. she wont start trys to crank but wont start i replaced fuel filter and she will crank but wont start .

 

not even a putter im getting fuel at least as far as filter she clicks when i try to start but not a dead batt click . i can hear fuel pump humming .

 

truck is stuck in street at a friends hosue and we are trying to figure it out so i can get home. any ideas?

 

 

few weeks ago she dident wanna start would start then die butthen it went away she wasrunning a bit rough after that but cleared right up then this im stumped.

Are you getting oil pressure when cranking the engine? If not check the wires going to the oil pressure sending unit.If they are laying against a manifold or other body metal the unit will ground out and not let the engine start when there is no oil pressure...happened to me.In fact you should check all over the engine compartment for loose,bare or broken wires.Also look for loose ground wires....very important on a 12v DC system.It wouldn't be a bad idea to check the ignition module,that's happened to me too....

Always check for spark and fuel. In a truck that old, that's really all that controls whether it will run or not.

ok i pulled main wire that goes to distributor cap i had friend crank truck and had screw driver inside wire no spark comeing from wire. so im going to pick up the ignation mod

thanks guys i got her fixed and running tonight she was acting bit odd again starting in cold .

 

but im going to caulk that up to the cold she started right up in day once it got cold and sun went down it took 2 trys of cranking key to get her to fire up.
