4.5" Backspacing For Lift Kit?

I have the stock 17" steel wheels on my 05 K1500. I'm not sure what my backspacing is on the wheels but the lift kit I want says I need 4.5" of backspacing.

 

Does anyone know the stock backspacing?

 

Is 5" of backspacing to much or too little for this kit If I buy new wheels??

Which kit? Different kits require different backspacing. More then likely stock wheels won't fit, but again, depends on the lift. If this particular kit is saying 4.5, I'd try to get exactly that and in that case, stock won't work.

Just measured the backspacing on my factory 2000 Silverado 16X7 aluminum wheels and it is 5 3/8 inches. Steelies are probably the same but I can't guarantee it. With more than 4 1/2 inches of backspacing with some lifts the tires will hit the frame at full lock. If you want to use your stock wheels you may have to get spacers and longer studs.

Correcto....spacers are bad, unless its an off-road only vehicle and even then they still suck.

The BDS 4" kit requires 4.5" of backspacing. I've been looking at wheels and some of them say 5" of backspacing that I like and I wasn't sure if that is too much or too little if the kit requires 4.5". I guess I didn't think it may have to be that measurement exactly. I thought it might need to a minimum or something of 4.5".
