Service 4wd Fixed!

Had the new Single Borla exhaust installed today (it is QUIETER) and while the mechanic was at it, he reset the computer by unhooking the battery (to avoid electric shock/explosion while spot welding the Borla clamps).

 

My 'Service 4WD' message is gone.

 

Things that I replaced had inspected:

 

New 4WD Actuator

New Switch panel in the dashboard

Had the mechanic inspect and seal the connections where the wires enter the transfer case (or something like that... perhaps the TCCM?).

 

Anyway, I took the truck for a spin and no more 'Service 4WD' message. If it throws the code again, I'll let y'all know. I suspect it was the switch in the dashboard... it kept throwing the code even after I replaced the 4WD Actuator.

 

BTW, the Borla system is quieter than I expected from an exhaust that is essentially 'straight through'... I could see in/out of the muffler from one end to the other. I've not had such a quiet muffler except for stock. It has a mild rumble and NO interior resonance... I think I lost hearing in my left ear over the last five years driving that truck from Florida to Virginia and Ohio... I have a constant ringing noise in my left ear. Oh well, it was fun anyway ;)
