How Long Should I Have To Wait?

Recommended Posts

I ordered my 09 GMC 2500 diesel on Nov. 5. My dealer is telling me that his computer shows a build date of Jan. 5. This seems like an awfully long time considering the current economic conditions. How long are others waiting?

Thanks

I ordered a new Supeer Duty in 2005....took almost 5 months.....seems like the factory "slides your truck" into the assembly line as they are running a bunch of trucks that are very similar.

They do not stop the assembly lline to build yours.....I had to wait for over an extra month until the ran a group of manual tranny trucks...then mine got on the line...ugh!!

I ordered my 09 1500 Aug. 20th and was told my build date was going to be around Nov. 19th. I am still waiting. You might get delayed longer b/c GM is suppose to idle a bunch of factories for the month of January.

And they wonder why no one wants to buy from them any more. :happysad:

Last year, when I had mine on order from November, 2007, there was a two week December shutdown due to the holiday. It was finally delivered 2/18/08 with a 11/08 order.

I was reading something a few days ago about plant closures for January... 20 plants, I believe. So, you might want to get in touch with the dealer, to see if the date they gave you is still a good date.

I agree - with all the Trouble GM is having....You cant find one on a lot already for a steal ???

Build 'your' truck on the chevy website and search for it......might save you big $$ even if you have to travel a few miles !!!!

^ I agree with him. You might not be able to have every bell and whistle that you ordered, but you would probably be able to save quite a bit of $$ if you are in a hurry.

Absolutely look on the lots. I found my 07 2500 HD on the lot and its pretty much what I would order. The biggest problem is the yuppie trucks if you want a work truck. But I payed $6,000.00 less than sticker and got 0% financing. If i kept up working them Im sure I could have saved more. And that was last March. There were 07's on the lot till September. Probably still are but I stopped scanning the websites. You could be driving your new truck tomorow.

GM is saying 20 plants are going to temp close in Jan. Better check with your dealer to see if your truck is delayed or been pushed ahead. I think they also close company wide for 2 weeks at Xmas time.

I ordered my 09 Tahoe July 7th and received it on November 15th. Good things come to those who wait (and have patience).

Try "special ordering" any thing from the Foreign makers, vanilla, chocolate, that's it. ha ha. The production for these trucks are set months in advance, just like mentioned, it all depends what you ordered and when it falls in there production schedule.
