hey all

i was looking for my block heater cord today to plug in my truck at work. its -40 here and it is alot easier on the truck if its plugged in.

the manual says thats it is near the power steering pump. but i dont see it.

being that i bought the truck in canada im hoping it came with a block heater.

i havent had a chance to crawl underneath and look yet.

is there a code in the glove box or in the serial number that will tell me if the truck is equipped with a block heater?

i dont have the window sticker anymore.

the truck is a 07 silvy nbs

any help would greatly be appreciated

thanks

Its located on the top of the drivers side frame rail, behind the radiator/radiator support.

"K05" is the RPO code for the block heater

and no block heater cord.

i never thought about a block heater when i bought the truck.

i bought the truck in the summer time and i assumed being a canadian truck it would have one.

i doubt my dealer will put one in for free?

Unfortunately, block heaters (even in Canada) are optional equipment. Some dealers put them in, but there are a few who save the dough. It is one of the questions I ask with the tone in my voice that implies that I won't be buying a vehicle unless it's included - free.

At my dealership they don't have anything on the lot that doesn't have AC, four wheel drive, or a block heater, unless its ordered by a coustomer. But that's just my dealership. Other places in Canada such as Newfoundland Nova Scotia lower B.C. etc. don't really get the cold temperatures to justify a block heater. In the three years I had a car back east, there was only one time I would have liked to have my car pluged in.

Where is your truck from in Canada?

My dad always had block heaters installed in his cars when I was growing up back home (Newfoundland). During the winter, it would get to -35. Grew up in a pulp/paper town, not near the cost, so winter temperatures were not as moderate.

You are right. Is back home Grand Falls? My Grandfather lives an hour west of there and I have heard many stories about the cold out there, but i think global warming or something has taken affect out that way. I'm origionaly from St. John's and only 24 so I never got to see those temperatures. They still get the cold temperatures, but not like that anymore. One good thing is they still get lots of snow and there is damn good sledding in that area.

Yes, home is Grand Falls (been on the mainland for 24 years...but home will always be home). I remember growing up and walking to school at -35c. Now I'm not saying that it was uphill and in a storm though. ;)
