Gear Ratio Id From Axle Tube #

First off a big Hello to everyone, nice informative site. My question concerns identifying the gear ratio from the number on the axel tube. I'm looking to replace the rear end on a '97 Z71 4x4 with a 3.42 ratio. The rear end is from a '92 pickup but doesn't have the RPO sticker, but the axel tube # is GMK17. Best part about this unit, if it's a 3.42, is it's free! My second choice is from a '98 4x4 and have already determined that it is the correct ratio, but will run me $450. Any help, comments or concerns will be appreciated.

You can't get the gear ratio from the "tube", have to crack the cover open and do a little math...Some R&Ps have the ratio stamped on them...Or you can get the VIN and have a dealer or member here run it for the gear ratio.

Well I lucked out and there is a VIN # from the donor vehicle.

2GCEK19K2P1103140 if someone wouldn't mind running this thru. Thanks in advance.
