Afm Lifters And Heated Washer Fluid And Dealership Woes....

I took my truck in on Monday to get the ticking on start up looked at. I already knew what it was and wanted it fixed. Brought it in, showed them a video of the engine ticking like crazy. The service writer and a tech both agree its not normal and want to hear it first hand. They had the truck for 3 days. They stated they never heard it. Which could be true as it doesnt tick on every start-up. With the video and the TSB, they still say they cant fix it. Service writer told me not to worry, this engine is bullet-proof, yada yada. He also said it could be due to aerated oil in the filter??? Told me if it continues to do it call back. I picked it up this am, started it with the remote and TICK TICK MOTHER F'IN TICK! I go back in and tell my service writer, who then sends a tech out. Pop the hood, the guy takes a listen to target it. He agrees it is a lifter. I was glad he heard it so I could get it fixed. THEN, he tells me nothing they can do. The bulletin states not to replace them. He said GM is designing new ones and told them not to replace them until they come out. The bulletin I found on here doesn't say that AT ALL. It says to replace ALL 16 lifters. Then he says my oil is dirty. I said OK. He asked if I have ever changed the oil. I laughed and said it has been changed twice...here in fact. He said oh, there was no record of it being changed. I am getting heated now and its 7 degrees out! I said ok f*ck it. I then asked if they performed the recall dealing with the heated wiper fluid. He said they ran my vin and no recalls came up. Why did I get a letter in the mail then? I certainly have the heated wiper fluid, I use it once in a while. WTF is going on here? Any ideas? Was there a new bulletin put out concerning the lifters? HELP!!!!!

I'm the same way. My Dad's the only one that can drive my truck, and that's only in dire situations.

i let people drive my truck like if there pulling it into my garage if im too lazy.. lol

or if do something with the exhaust or something that requires me hearing/ seeing it driven then ill let people drive it. (few and far between) other than that i dont let people drive it other than me.

sometimes i have to for work though. and that sucks.

I am lucky I guess, my dealer will do everything they can for me and usually goes the extra mile to help out.

About driving my truck, I really don't care who drives it. I've let all of my buddies drive it if they want to. I've even let my buddies g/f drive it on about an hour trip :D

None of that sounds bad to me.

1. Of course they cant authorize a repair of that cost based on a video, they must hear it first hand.

2. If you read the TSB that was posted on here it specifically says that there is an updated part number for the 6.0........ My guess is that they are working on getting an updated part for the 5.3. This is a good thing.

3. Not all 08's are subject to the heated wiper recall. I would guess that the mass mailing went to you by accident.

+1

What's the huge rush to get it fixed? Let them get some experience with this and the best possible solution (parts and labor) so you aren't back there in 6 months doing it all over again.

You have a 5 yr/100K PT warranty. Be patient.

1. I kow they can't fix anything until they see/hear it first hand. They DID hear it this am when I picked it up, then said nothing could be done.

2. The TSB also states to replace ALL of the lifters upon hearing the noise.

3. Mine is an 07'
