Power Programmers

What power programmer would someone reco to me. I have just added a cold air intake and was looking into programmers. I really like the Edge. Any feedback?

Yeah, **** tunes. They're so expensive. Just get a programmer so you can add VTEC.

But really, get a tune from Justin. It's well worth your money and is custom made exactly for YOUR truck, based on how it runs and performs. Programmers give you generic tunes and aren't able to do anywhere near as many things as Justin is able to do.

I had a Jet Performance Tuner for my 05 Silverado, I had a Superchips flashpaq programmer for my 06 GTO. I liked the SuperChips so much I have one for my 07 Sierra. I like it because I can de-tune her before any dealership visits, plus it is a trouble code reader as well. I have some mods to the Sierra listed in my signature below and "can" tell a huge difference when I have de-tuned for a visit to the dealership. The Cortex is a nice programmer as well and can be used on various GM models where as the flaspaq is only made for certain year model etc. Good Luck.

I used a Hypertech handheld on my GMT-800s. It improved the performance

some and added a few more mpgs. to boot. Sadly it did NOT address or

remove GMs famous Torque Mgmt. program.

For my Gmt-900 I am gonna go with a Diablo Preditor handheld. It does

allow you to change the Torque Mgmt. as well as tire size/top speed/etc.

in the new GMs but will not change the shifting in the 6 speeds................

I don't wanna screw around with the PCM burn tunes because I don't want

to bother with changing out the PCM or having the spare stock PCM along

with the burned PCM. As I heavy tow and snowplow and don't wanna hassle

with the PCM change out when I smoke the trans. or transfer case

before I send it off to the dealer for warranty repair.

As most of you have read about dealers and warranty denial if the

Tech 2 spots any after market PCM changes yada yada...............

With the handheld its plug in......ERASE tune.....and done.

IF I was off warranty...............A PCM burn would be the way to go!

It's my understanding that if the dealer wants to look for it, they can detect that you had a non-oem calibration on your modules and look as far back as the last 10 updates. So a handheld such as the Diablo offers no added security (when it comes to the warranty concern) than just swapping out out the modules. Someone correct me if I'm wrong please.

SonJaab, from what I've read, they can tell if it's been reflashed also (ie, by a handheld tuner). I could be wrong though.

A custom tune will kick any handheld's a$$. There are a lot more things that can be done with a custom tune. People who don't know any better get handheld tuners. Now you know better so, what are you waiting for? Get a hold of Justin at Black Bear Performance and get your truck tuned right!

As far as warranty is concerned the dealer will have a easier time detecting a handheld tune even if it is erased than a custom tune that is done on a seperate ECM/TCM and swapped out before you bring it in. Like it was said above they can detect up to the last 10 computer flashes, meaning they will see that you have a handheld and erased it. If you swap back to your stock modules, they won't be able to see that it was ever changed because it wasn't.
