Clear/reset Codes Or Not?

I have an 04 silverado that I just replaced the charcoal canister, soleniod and vent with the updated version. The CEL was on before I replaced everything. After the job was done the light is now off. My question is will I have to reset anything before emission testing or will a few hundred miles of regular driving do it? Thanks.

A while ago I had a porblem with my airbags..I found the problem and made the repair.Once i reinstalled the fuse the airbag light on the dash went out and everything was normal.That being said I asked a good friend of mine about where the code would be.He stated that what happens is the code goes into a history file in the computer. It does not harm anything.The code can be cleared using the scanner as he did that to mine.

 

P.S. my truck is a 2004 as well so I'm assuming that it's the same idea.

That's what I was wondering. You think that would keep me from passing emissions? I guess I could make a trip to "vatozone" (I hate that place) and have them clear it for me.

Should put itself in history when it runs a successful test of the system... after 40 ignition cycles or so it should dissapear from there.

 

As far as clearing it though, clearing it would actually reset the tests...and if your in a state like NC(the only state I can speak for) it would still fail emission testing for not haveing all tests ran(keeps people from clearing the codes right before inspection so the light would not be on) when they hook the machine up the the DLC.

 

Best to just let it go and let it work itself out, its not hurting anything unless it comes back on.
