Sub Installed In Nnbs Ext. Cab

Finally found a solution to work with the clear lack of space to fit a sub under the back seat of my 08 Silv Ext. Cab.

I had looked all around and the best that I came up with was to go with subthump.com or to a custom shop.

I actually found a local guy in Vegas, my hometown, named Chris M. from Missing Link Audio who works with fiberglass to build custom boxes right out of his garage.

I let him keep my truck overnight and he managed to put together a box that fits perfectly under the longer bench seat in the back. (I left the other side clear to keep my jumper cables/tie downs)

He used fiberglass to mold to the many contours of the carpet to get the most airspace possible out of my truck. He then wrapped the fiberglass base around some thin MDF. Chris used a high strength sealing compound on the box and it is definitely a solid build.

I ended up getting about .8 cubes total. He made it a ported box tuned to 35 hz.

I put in a single 10'' Fi Audio sub pushing around 400 watts and WOW its loud.

The box looks really clean, and the quality speaks for itself.

Any Vegas locals I would definitely recommend Chris and you can PM me for his info. Got a really good deal from him, comparable to the subthump's price.

Here's some more pics during/after install:

You have room behind the seat, there are quite a few options.

I was on the lj site last night and i was looking at the behind the seat install, but i was hoping to find one that installed under the the seats the only one i could find was for the new body style (i think)

Looks great. How much was that box to get custom made?

I ended up payin around $200 after hookin him up with a little extra.. Definitely happy with the investment. The quality of this box compared to a prefab one is night and day. It was actually tuned and ported to fit the sub I'm running, and it is upfiring allowing for better sound quality than a typical downfiring box (subthump)

was it pretty easy to install that amp under the seat. How large is it?

The amp install really wasn't too bad. Wiring was kind of a pain, maneuvering the wires under the carpet and all +getting the power through the firewall.. but it wasn't too tough..

The amp is pretty good size (can put out 1200 RMS). Would say about 15''x8'' as a guess. Like I said I'm only running about 400 watts at 4ohm right now so its running a really light load. To mount it I just secured it with a couple L brackets and some small screws into a cover under the seat.
