All,

I would appreciate some opinions on the possibility of trading my 2007 NBS LT1 Silverado for a 2009. I currently have around 15K miles. The truck is in good shape, but will eventually need the rear main seal replaced because it is leaking. I received one of those dealer notices that say they can make a special deal because they are looking for good used vehicles, and will couple all of the incentives with it. I know what I am looking for in the cost difference. My concerns are that I know what I have now, but the new truck is an unknown. Also, with where GM is now, should I be concerned with the build quality?

The "special deal" from the dealer is probably BS. Take your truck in and have the rear main seal fixed under warranty.

It won't hurt to go in and see what they will give you. If you don't like it, you can always leave.

I traded in my '08 for an '09 whose msrp was $7k+ than the 08, and ended only about $3500 higher than what I paid for my 08. I had to go to a few dealers to get this deal, but eventually it worked out.

Like already mentioned, it will come down to making a choice as to if the trade will be worth it. The new seats in the 09 really are better with the lint issue mentioned.
