Keep the cap on.

The only thing is the haynes manual sais to have the cap off and when i have bled brakes on a 94 chev 1 ton and a few other trucks it didnt seem to do it.

This can be correct.

When pushing in the brake piston if you co slow enough, the fluid can be pushed up to the resevoir without causing it to "shoot out". Only do one at a time or the excess fluid will over spill. When the actual bleeding of the brakes, you leave the cap off so you can keep topping it off with fluid. Off..on it really doesnt matter. Just do not let the resevoir run empty or you will have to start all over. Same with over filling or going too fast, it will get all over the place. Quickly clean any brake fluid off paint, or it will eat thru it.

Ok so I starting bleeding the brakes with the cap on and the backs were bled fine but when I got to the front the air would not stop. something has to be wrong.

You can also just gravity bleed the brakes. It takes longer but usually is a sure fire way of getting all the air out of the lines.

Thanks Ill try but I think the problem is that air is getting into the system somewhere
