Busted My 14 Bolt :)

Well i busted my spider gears in my 9.5" sf 14b.

one spider gear got in the ring and pinion. broke a tooth on my ring gear. Pinion looks fine though.

My g80 was already not working right, now i think its wasted.

It has 3.73. I'm thinking about going to 4.10s. Think that would affect mileage much? i drive my truck pretty hard everywhere and i'm getting about 10mpg. Can it really get much worse? lol

 

How do you guys with 4.10's like your trucks? I tow quite a bit and will be doing a little drag racing

 

I can get a rebuilt G80 for $250 + shipping. Think its worth it?

 

What route would you guys go? I need some kind of locker, and dont want to break the bank or weld it.

Oh, my old carrier is wasted too.

 

I need to know what the front diff is if i regear. Can someone help me out with that?

 

My truck is a 1999 nbs silverado 2500, 6.0, 4l80e with autotrac and 225k miles lol

I would get a Detroit Trutrac if you're that hard on the rear end, especially enough to make a 14 bolt break...

 

4.10s are awesome for towing, not good for long drags though as you lose some top end power by gearing lower.
