K & N Air Filters

Interested in any comments good or bad about K & N air filters, thinking about putting one in my 4.8L but want to hear everybody/anybody's experience with them.

Oil it correctly and you'll never have problems. People will tell you all sorts of horror stories of oil on the MAF sensors but I've had a K&N in everything I have ever owned without any problems whatsoever. Just oil it as suggested in the instructions and you'll be good for as long as you own the vehicle.

Use the advanced search features in the future and you may find your answers without having to wait. Just about everything you can think of has been asked at some point and answered. There's a ton of information here.

Using K & N for 2 years. No problems so far. Do not over-oil your filter!

sounds to me like if its all hwy driving then good, but if alot of driving on gravel roads then not so good! and I'll leave it at that.

Never had a K&N filter on my truck but had one on my ultralight aircraft. I hated having to clean it & re-oil it. Much easier to just buy a regular filter and replace it.

Using K & N for 2 years. No problems so far. Do not over-oil your filter!

I used one for 7 years, with one re-oiling in my 2000, never had a problem.

That said, I saw absolutely ZERO benefit from it (drop-in only, not the entire CAI).

I'll stick to re-useable dry filters from now on. AEM Dryflow FTW!!!

Agree with this. Easier to clean, don't have to mess with oil, and over time will pay for itself compared to replacing with paper.

Try the AEM Air-Raid...its just like the K&N but you don't need to oil it.

Just get one of the cheap kits off ebay, and get whatever high performance filter you want...save you about 150 bucks.

I have 50K on my K&N... only cleaned and recharged it once so far. No big deal other than you have to follow the directions so plan on waxing while it dries. Other than the fact I don't buy the paper filters every 15K, I have not seen any real benefit. It might hep alittle with the the intake since I added the magnaflow exhaust but the milage realy has not changed. The oiling does't botherme and I have never had any MAF sensor issues, but I do not think I willl put a K&N in our new Acadia, just do not see the benefit in that vehicle.

Stick with the oem filter, K&N is way over rated. Filter will cost you about 50 bucks and the recharge cleaning kit is about 25 bucks getting about 3 uses out of the recharge kit. A few friends of mine had the K&N air filters and all of them went back to the oem filters, they were finding dirt and grit on the inside of the intake tube (past the filter) they claim more air flow so I guess it does cause its not filtering as well as the oem's.
