This has probably been posted 100 times but this is my first time seeing it and I thought this was pretty cool which I would never run tires this big. This guy claims to have a leveling kit and 2" blocks with very minable rubbing and he took a heat gun to reform the plastic slightly. Incase the link dont work here is some pictures, oh yeah the tires are 315/70/17 bfg

How wide are those 17" wheels?

I'm guessing either 7", MAYBE 7.5", and neither are wide enough to run a 315 safely. The tires look like balloons on a wheel that narrow, which will cause uneven wear, and personally I think the "ballooning" looks stupid.

Look at the bright side, no need to worry about curb-rash on the wheels. :D

Those tires are close to being right.

Maybe close like hand grenades and horseshoes.

Not really, the wheel is a full 1" too narrow for the tire. Will he have any problems? Probably not. Is there a greater chance of losing a bead than with a proper tire/wheel combo? Absolutely. Not worth the risk of the safety of myself and the others around me IMO.

I've seen those pics before. Sweet looking truck, just not safe.

You can tell we were both influenced by Brian (InTheClouds) over on CTW. :dunno:

I think anyone that spent any amount of time over there a couple years ago learned that you do not disagree with Brian. He was kinda like Jeff, except he knew what he was talking about. :dunno:

Not a very nice thing to say about Pennzoil29. Give him a break, he is struggling with kicking his smoking habit. :)

Brian and i had some epic discussions over there.... remember our full drop vs knuckle kit analysis :P Is he on any other forums? I see him post once in a while over there, but then again i only post once in a blue moon. I miss having educated 'discussions' on otherwise somewhat controversial topics.

Ok threadjack over.... back to the topic:

BFG's tend to run small (a set of 315/70/17s measured up to about the same size as my 33" PJs, side by side). So anyone who has the idea of running 315s after seeing that red truck might want to reconsider based on which tire they're actually going with.

Oh... and dont run a 12.5" wide tire (315mm) on anything smaller than an 8" wheel please! Is it reeeealy worth the risk?

If these 315/70/17 werent bad enough, here is someone with 325/70/17 lol with only a 2" leveling kit and he took out the rear blocks to make it squat. It looks like his tires are nitto terra grappler AT. 35.00x13.12
