Let Me Try This Question Here....

Hi,

I'm pretty new to this forum and just wanted some simple information.

I had posted this in another forum and it's just a pissing match at the moment.

"I would like to ask this.... I want the best muffler (single in dual out) for my 09 4.3L but, I do not want loud, not on this truck, I do a lot of interstate driving and don't want the drone in the cab. My truck is also my company car so I can't pull into customers sites with a loud truck.

I am going to get a Blackbear tune as soon as they can do the 09.

I am working via email with Spectre (because they responded with interest to my inquiry about a fit to my truck) giving them pictures with dimensions on the stock intake so they can come up with a kit solution for the air.

So, what I am going to need is the best exhaust from the cat back that will give me the sound level of the Flowmaster 50 SUV model.

Eventually, I will put headers on this truck, just because."

What i dont get is, you are getting a tune, doing an upgrade with an air intake, headers and dual exhaust and you want it quite? WHY? PRobably not going to happen

Go with the Flowmaster Super 44 series. I installed this on my truck, it has a 4.8, and it sounds great. Not too overpowering and the sound is the most powerful at 1500-1800 RPM.

Plus i dont think Justin does 4.3s yet?

Nope, Jenna posted in our tuning meet thread that Justin doesn't, yet, have the capability to tune 4.3's.

A dual exhaust will be a bit louder than a single, so I recommend the latter. If you don't want ANY drone, get a Corsa dB Red Muffler. Quiet until you get on it and drone-free in the cab. I'm not sure what size piping the 4.3L uses, but if it's 2.25", you'll want 8332454; if it's 2.5", you'll want 8332554. If you're stuck on a dual exhaust (be prepared for it to be a little louder), look into the MagnaFlow 12580. If the stock piping happens to be 2.25", get the 12251. MagnaFlow also has a new dual outlet cat-back for the SCRB that'll fit the 4.3L, 16566.

I have a Flownaster 70 series Big Block setup and it sounds great without being loud. No drone in the cab AT ALL.

I have a true dual flowmaster super 44 series setup. Love it, super loud and I love that I have to crank my radio up to about 12 volume to be able to hear. ah... just the way a truck should be. :jester:

I'm pretty sure you just told him exactly what he didn't want to hear.

Just putten in my $.02. Anything wrong with that? If he doesn't want anything to loud than a single in single out muffler replacement is the best bet with a chrome tip for looks. That more constructive?

Well, he did say he didn't want anything loud.

Yes, "he did say he didn't want too loud".

But, with what I'm hearing, I could go with a single in single out and not get a lot of cab noise.

That was my main concern.

Now, I've never put a performance muffler on a six, how's it gonna sound?

Thanks for all the info here.

Spectre has gotten back to me with a list of parts to build an intake tube, that's next.

I can straighten it out a good bit. I also noticed that on this truck, they do not have the screen on the MAF sensor and they've already put electric fans on it.

hmmm i did not know that they combined the MAF and the Air temp sensor. And did they do away with the metal MAF in the GMT900? or the 800's

Check in this thread I created a while. A lot of members have posted many clips, there are a few with the six in there that might help you decide: http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/index.php?...ust+sound+clips
