Exhaust Discoloring Rear Bumper

Recommended Posts

I haven't seen anything on here about this, so thought I'd post to see how common or uncommon this is.

I'm at around 30,000 miles on my truck and the bottom corner of my rear bumper is discolored, right above/behind the exhaust tip. It won't wash or polish off, its definately a stain of some sort. I already had the rear bumper replaced once for the same problem. So does anybody elses bumper get tarnished/stained by the exhaust? I am still barley in warranty so could get another new one, but don't like the idea of constantly changing out the rear bumper.

I only have 5k on the odom, so it's early, but I do not have any stains from the exhaust (yet). If its definitely the exhaust, then the fix may be a chrome exhaust tip, to put the exhaust out a few more inches. I'd be curious to see a picture of the stain. I'm not a fan of exhaust tips, but I'd add one if it's an issue. Out of curiosity, does the truck sit idling a lot?

I've got the GMPP exhaust (side exit) and have noticed the same thing. It doesn't bother me that much really, as nobody would notice something like that except me (well, any of us true fanatics I suppose). Maybe I'll try to get a free bumper out of my warranty before it expires in another year or so.

I just noticed this same thing on mine Yesterday, actually my Brother pointed it out. I have not tried to do anything with it yet. I've got 8400mi on mine.

Okay, grammar guy, check your own signature, Mark. Shouldn't "that" be "than"??? Besides, I belive the quote you're referencing is actually "'Tis better to be silent and be thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt."

Proof that it happens to the best of us! All I did was cut and paste instead of research. OOOPS!

I am glad the OP took no offense, none was intended, I was being serious.

I would like to thank you for stepping in and defending the OP against my vicious onslaught.
