Gordon Haters?

From another thread, I find that I am not the only racefan on this board who expresses a dislike for Jeff Gordon. As I wait on my wife to get home from work this Thanksgiving Day, I decided to start a thread and give my reasons. I hope to hear your reasons also. Before any Gordon fans criticize my ryr8828 logo I must point out that Jarrett won the Daytona 500 in a Chevy Lumina in 1993. Rudd used to drive for Hendrick(who I despise). While I was a huge Davey Allison fan, I've been following DJ and Rudd for years. A Jarrett fan since 1989.

Reasons to dislike Jeff Gordon

1. The biggest whiner in nascar. Maybe in a tie with Rusty.

2. Superior equipment from convicted felon Rick Hendrick, while Terry Labonte is forced to drive junk.

3. Nascar favors him with competition cautions. He is the golden boy.

4. Roots his way around the track worse than Earnhardt Hisself ever did, but never accepts fault.

5. Is an employee, partner of HONDA dealer and felon Rick Hendrick.

6. Unable to defend himself behind the hauler after the race. If the much publicized "scrap" between Jeff and Tony Stewart had not been broken up, I fear that both would have been scratching and slinging purses within minutes.

7. Calls his pit crew the "rainbow warriors". Watch out Dorothy.

8. Wife too dang pretty.

9. Too dang much money, makes more on a good day than I make in 15 years.

I hope I left something for the rest of you. GO DJ!

I just dis-like how he represents himself.

I agree with a couple of your reasons but I disagree with a couple.

#3: Nascar did that with Your man, DJ too. Gordon isn't the only one they do that for.

#5: Rick Hendrick may be a felon, but he's a dang good team owner. I mean, your other man (One of my Favorites too), Ricky Rudd, would't have a 16 year winning streak if it wasn't for Hendrick. And one other thing, What's wrong with Hondas?

I do agree with 1, 6, 7, and defenately #8 (:().

I don't think that there is any need for this drivel.

Like or hate Gordon, he is a four time Champion, and he didn't get that given to him by anyone.

Any fan out there can skew cautions, good equipment, favoritism, etc. in their favorite driver's favor.

I'm not a big Gordon fan myself, but I don't trash him simply because I'm jealous of his success.

I remember a test session when Mark Martin and Jeff Gordon were testing at the same time.  Gordon was complaining about his car and the 2 of them switched just for fun.  M Martin said that was the best dang car he had ever driven...

There is no doubt that Gordon is a good driver.  But they are only who they are because of what they drive and who builds and maintains them!!!  I think there are many more drivers as good as Gordon, but they don't have the "ride".

How would he do if he were in a "budget" team???  I think he'd win, but wouldn't be consistant...  Personaly I don't care for the "pretty boy" image, and I am by no means a Gordon fan, but I admit he does have talent...

This has the potential to get way out of hand.  Let's not let that happen, or the thread will be locked or deleted as needed.

I'm not a Gordon fan myself, but I will say he can drive the wheels off a race car and has a great team.  As with any driver, when they start to win a lot, they get more boo's than cheers.  Like Shaners said, I think he could win in almost any car, but might not be as consistent.  Gordon is definately the biggest threat to pass The King's and Dale Earnhardt's 7 Championships, and possibly overtake David Pearson's 105 wins to move into second on the all time win list.

I think a lot of people don't like him because he's not the "rough, tough guy, good 'ole boy" image that alot fans accosiate with NASCAR drivers.  At least around here it is.

It's certainly ok for you to dislike Gordon, but remember there are Jeff Gordon fans here and I don't want it to get out of hand and turn into a personal war of words or insults.  :(

Now you've got two Gordons to hate.

Robbie just announced from Victory Lane he's donating all the prize money from winning the New Hampshire race to the Fireman's fund for NYC firefighters.

Jeff Gordon a normal guy! I may like him yet. Now if he had drug Robby out of his car, I think I would have become a #24 fan! It'd be a lot cheaper than that $10 per race I've bet against him since 1996. I wish I could have seen the race. Got home after a double shift, rewound the tape, and got nothing but SNOW. I forgot to change my A/B switch from satellite to antenna.

I agree with the whiny cry-baby comments.  Rusty hasn't done much in the last few years, so I guess Jeffy takes the title as whiny-est.  His wife, who is a hottie, is as dumb as a rock.  My mother says that every time he wins, he can go out and buy her more bobbles.  (little shiny things that keep her occupied.)

I've always been a #3 fan.  I remember back in the early 90's (someone probably remembers the exact year) sitting in the grandstand at Daytona watching Earnhardt and Davey Allison coming around turn 3, half a lap to the checker, and taking each other out.  dang I was so mad.  When he finally won the 500, I think I cried a little bit.

Now I hope Little E can take over WC and keep the family legacy going.
