Sets Misfire Code

I have a 2004 2500hd silverado crew cab 4x4 with the 6.0. For the last year it has been setting a misfire code on the 2 and 6 cylinders. It doesn't do it all the time and only does it at idle.

 

We've switched coils with other cylinders to see if the miss moves and it doesn't

 

We've switched fule injectors and the miss didn't move.

 

We've switched O2 sensors to see if the miss would move to the other side of the motor and it didn't

 

We've ran cleaner through the engine for cardon, no change

 

We've put new plugs and plug wires and no change.

 

There is no ryme or reason why or when it does it. You take it just above idol and it quits.

 

My dad is a certified Chevy mechanic and he's never seen anything like it. I put it in his place of employment for a day and they tried several different things including a leak down test and it passed. Cost me $200.00 for them to tell me they couldn't find it.

 

The only thing left is to pull the heads and check them plus the lifters.

 

Anyone else have any other ideas?

That really is odd. When it does it during idle, is it when the truck is cold, warm, or both? An issue with the distributor maybe?

Doesn't matter if it's cold, warm, hot. There is no distributer, it's coil over plug design.

check camshaft for wear. have seen a couple that had worn cam lobes with no noise and a misfire at idle that went away off idle.
