Having an issue with all of the items listed in the Topic Title.

Hope this description isn't too confusing, but here goes:

Truck is an 01 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT with Air, Towing Package, Cruise and other options.

Problem:

With truck at idle and in park:

1. Symptom - With the flashers on

Result - Odometer/Radio/Air Bag On/Off Light all blink on and off

Turned the flashers off

2. Symptom - Press Brake Pedal only

Result - Odometer/Radio/Air Bag On/Off Light all dim very low, almost cant see them

3. Symptom - Right Signal only

Result - Odometer/Radio/Air Bag On/Off Light all stay illuminated

4. Symptom - Left Signal Only

Result - Same result as item # 1

5 Symptom - Right Signal and Brake Pedal pushed

Result - Same result as item # 2

6. Symptom - Left Signal and Brake Pedal pushed

Result - Same result as item # 1

7. Symptom - Left Signal and Brake Pedal pushed

Result - Same result as item #1 and Back left signal blinks and left and right stop lamps blink

8 Symptom - DRL's not illuminated at all, changed bulbs and still not illuminated.

My buddy was having a similar problem and he fixed the problem with replacing the multi-function switch, so I INSTALLED A NEW multi-function switch and the PROBLEM STILL OCCURRING.

I also replaced front/back signal bulbs.

If I can provide and additional information, please ask.

I'm at my wits end, please help.

Thanks, sorry for being so 'long' winded but I wanted to explain the different scenarios that I've tried to identify/isolate the problem, to no avail.

Any or all suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

An update to my problem(s).

I have a line-of-fire type of light bar on the back of the truck. Seems that this was the cause of the problem because here in Connecticut, we get hot/cold type conditions which caused moisture to build up within the plastic that encases the light system. Well after time, that moisture caused the electrical components or the 'wiring' within the plastic to carrode, causing the light bar to short out. So I disconnected the light bar and walla all my problems went away.

No more light bars for me, even though I really enjoyed the 'look'.

Hope this helps others if they encounter similar problems/issues.

i skimed thru your post

for a few weeks i had a gremlin. if i hit brakes the turn signals would come on faintly, if i had the signals on then hit brakes they would stop. my cruise wouldnt work and then my heater controls got funny

what had happend is the switch on the brake pedal was loose and not making good contact with ground. with a proper ground your lights and etc go haywire

An easy first step would be to check all fuses.

Sometimes power from a working circuit can "back feed" into a circuit with a blown fuse via something like a light bulb.
