O2 Sensor's On An 01 8.1l

Truckers,

 

Can someone tell me how many O2 sensors there should be on my 8.1L and where they should be located at? I can only see two, i think the previous owner pulled two of them and put plugs in the holes. I just pasted 100K and i'm doing all the maintenance(spark plugs, tranny fluid, diffs, transfer case,..) to the truck before i move to Korea (USAF)

should be four, two pre-cat on both banks and two post cat on both banks, BUT it is possible the rear ones have been deleted, the original owner may have installed 02 sims, or tuned it out... the front two are the ones that affect engine performance.

Why would someone remove the rear two O2 sensors? Are there gains to be made or something?

Nope, no gains, it is for applications were the cats are removed, a CEL would appear if the O2s were left in, or not tuned out. but not having them in there is most likley a federal violation.... depending on local emission laws...
