For lack of a better word, I need something that would go in place of a JCASE fuse so I have access to the 2 leads. Would it just be easier to cut the fuse element and solder wires to the 2 metal parts? Also looking for something similar for the fog lamp relay, though I may just gut one of those like the fuse adapter.

I am trying to do the 4 Hi + fog mod on my 2008 Silverado but want to be able to easily remove it. I've got it diagramed out but just need the equipment.

Also, does anyone know where I can get JCASE fuse holders, I checked Waytek, they have one which requires freaking Metri-pak connectors, and the holder itself is $5. Any help would be appreciated.

Plenty of these things at a wrecking yard.

Just destroy a fuse and solder wires to the connectors.

I once needed to install a diode, but no "tough" way to do this for mounting under the hood, so I got an old relay from a wrecking yard, removed the insides leaving two connectors, soldered the diode to that, then replaced the case and mounted it under the hood.

Then sometimes I need a connector for an existing connector which did not have a wire for a certain pin, so I'll get the same connector from a wrecking yard, cut it open, remove one connector, then this slides into the empty slot on the existing connector.

That would work but the wrecking yards around here seem to only have older vehicles, and not much of a selection. I guess I'll have to look for some better yards. Thanks.

I noticed last time I visited Auto Zone they had a part that would accept a wire and plug in the fuse holder.

Oh the fuse taps. That may work for the fuses since I'll be pulling minimal current to power a relay. Though I have heard they do damage, that may be from pulling twice the current through the feed wire. I'll look into this.

I thought I read a thread a while back about this mod that the person just stuck the diode in where the fuse was and then pushed the fuse back down on top of it holding the diode to that prong. That way if you need to take it out, just pull the fuse and pull the diode and replace the fuse. If you search around on here there is a thread but I can't find it right now among the millions of high-fog threads.

I've seen a few on here that did that, they all seemed to be done on the trucks up to 07. I thought about that, but I don't like to do modifications like that. Plus those were for fuses where the fuse was the male part. These Jcase fuses are female which might not work so well with inserting diodes, it may work, but I like to do things a little differently. If I can pull out the soldering iron, I like to. On top of being more neat.
