Flash The Computer For Fog Lights?

I have a 2008 Sierra SL that I just installed the factory fog lights on. My question is, why does the dealership want me to flash the computer for putting fog lights on? I installed them exactly like the directions said and when I came down to the bottom of those directions it said nothing about flashing the computer. Some people have said it wouldn't work with out it or that the dash indicator wouldn't come on unless I flashed it. This is not the case with my truck. They come on just fine and the dash indicator works as well.

If they "work just fine" and "the indicator works," why are you still worrying with it? "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

Sounds to me like your stealership is looking to part you from some hard earned cash! I'd blow 'em off and move on...

Cause I want ammo to go back to that dealer and confront him with why in the hell are you wanting to charge me an hour ($98 an hour shop rate) to do nothing??? Not to mention I don't want to be going down the road and the computer sh*t the bed becasue I didn't flash it. Just covering my butt.

In the 99-02 trucks you had to flash the BCM if you added fogs after the fact. On 03+ trucks, they are plug 'n play with no flash required.

Thanks for your reply Scott. I've never heard of such a thing. Even the jets that I work on for a living (I'm a crew chief for a V.I.P. unit) don't have something as stupid as that and they come about as technologicly (sp?) advanced as they get.
