Tpms Range Settings On 07 Suburban 2500.

Hello all,

Now that towing season is over for me I would like to run the tire pressure(s) at 50psi front and 50psi rear from the 50psi(front) & 70psi(rear) that I was running. The trucks TPMS values are set for the ratings on the sticker inside the driver door of 50psi front & 70psi rear. I believe there is about a 11-12 psi variable before the TPMS light on the dash is triggered and the display will scroll thru which tire(s) to check for low air pressure.

With that said, running the rears @ 50 psi. causes this light/display to come on and would like to lower the setting so that it doesn't always look like there is a problem with the rear tire pressure(s). Does anyone know if this setting/value can be adjusted by me and if yes, can you please walk me thru the series of steps to do so..... or will it have to go the the dealer for this adjustment.

Thanks much,

-John

You'll need a TechII to do it. You'll need to either go to your dealer or any service that has a TechII. Some dealers will not do it for liability reasons though.

Thanks for the info VMax2007. Is the TechII possibly a piece of equipment that a former GM technician might own or is it something that a dealership would have because of cost..?? The reason I ask this is because I work at a Honda car dealership(in the parts dept.) and we just hired a technician who came from a GM dealership that had been with GM for the past 20 years.... if it's not too costly maybe he would have one..?

Thanks,

I doubt he would own one since he had access to one at work. They are not cheap. But it wouldn't hurt to ask.

Ok, thanks VMax2007. Question, do you think that a TechII would be diagnostic tool that is commonly shared throughout the industry... ex: like possibly the Honda dealer that I work at may have one?

Pretty sure it is a GM-specific tool. But again, it wouldn't hurt to ask.

the tech 2 is for GM vehs only ,any dealer other than GM would not have one because of the cost ,its very expensive and you need the candi module ,and its just easier to sublet to a dealer for repairs,

p.s ,TPMS sucks and is a big pain in the behind

it sucks until you have a tire going down while your driving. you'll love it then.
