Hello all.

I just bought an 09' Chevy Silverado 1500 with the 6.0L, Heavy Max tow package that will allow me to pull 10,500lbs. Does this mean I have a 1500HD?

Hi... MS3DALE is correct... GM has not made the 1500HD in the 'New Silverado' body style... very unfortunate for anyone who wanted one of these to pull a travel trailer or to have something more than a 1/2 ton but less than a 2500HD..

Your truck is likely a GVW 7000 lbs, and with a max payload of 1600-1700 lbs.

A 2006 1500HD had a GVW of 8600 lbs, and a max payload of 2840 lbs.

While GM tells you that your can pull a 10,500 lbs trailer... (in a straight line down the road..)... you are still (legally...) limited by the payload you actually put on the suspension of this truck.

Yeah,It'll be between 7000 up to 7300lbs. GVWR.

It depends on if its a 2wd or 4wd,and if its an ext. or crew-cab.

Here are the specs I found from Chevy's web site:

Max Trailering Pack, Includes Vortec 6.0L V8 SFI engine, heavy-duty automatic locking rear differential, Handling/Trailering Suspension Package, 9.5" (24.1 cm) hybrid rear axle, 3.73 rear axle ratio

I don't know if that helps. Also where can I find the GVW for my truck?

It will be on the door jamb sticker,It should be on the door itself.

Also...If you post your VIN I can run it and tell you.

Found it and it does state the GVW is 7300lbs.

So where can I find the max payload?

It won't tell you that on the truck itself,You generally have to look in the brochure or order guide for that.

4 wheel drive, crew cab

1,652lbs.

Don't forget that while a max trailering package might tow 10,500lbs, you still have to be able to stop 10,500lbs. Trailer brakes help but, just something to think about.

That sucks.

So why do they sell the Vortecmax trailer package. Is it just to add more money to the sticker to give you warm fuzzes?

I bought it mainly to get the 6.0L

You don't have to get the Max-Trailering Pkg. to get the 6.0...I have the 6.0 and don't have the Max-Trailering Pkg. However I'm limited to 8,500 lbs. towing.
