Getting Off The Rotors

Recommended Posts

I am doing the brakes and I am at the point where I need to get the rotor off and it dose not want to move.. I have all the other stuff from the pads off and I unable to get it to come off the studs. I have done many brake jobs before but I am not sure if I just need to hit it more because its stuck from rust or am I missing some thing ? thanks

sometimes there are screws up on the rotors that are attached to the hub or clips on the actual studs that hold the rotor in place. I cant remember but i think that my old stuck had clips. check the studs and in between the studs for screws.

I haven't done brakes on a 900 yet, but if you don't see any visible retainers, I would guess that it's probably rust and needs some more BFH.

I looked at it and all I can find that looks out of place is a screw on the front of the rotor between the studs?

My front rotors have 1 Torx screw in them, don't know what the size is though. T-30 maybe

I had a hole in my front driver's tire the other day, that Torx screw was loose so I used a small flat screw driver to tighten it down. Wonder what their reasoning for that was, the older vehicles didn't have a screw and they worked fine.

Oh well, glad I helped 2 people today.
