I think it's just because Denise Grey is extremely popular after she performed at the church service that was televised after 9/11.

Personally, I can't stand opera singing, but she is very talented.

Generally, I don't like when females sing the national anthem.  To many of them seem to always jack it all up with those funky high notes and junk.     I don't know what you call it, but I call it that Mariah Carey/Christina Aguilera kind of singing.

I don't know about that.  If she sang it like other songs of hers I've heard, with all that changing of her voice and stuff, it wouldn't be perfect to me.  I don't know what is is about that, but I hate it when people do that when singing the national anthem, male or female.  That's just me though.
